About the Artist
My Journey ... My Inspiration ... My Process

I am a Pacific Northwest artist creating art over the course of twenty years and actively exhibiting for the past five. I’ve worked in sculpture, watercolor, and currently with acrylic mixed media on wood panels. I love how the texture gives depth to my artwork, giving it a sculptural feel.

My inspiration for creating art is EARTH.

So perfectly placed is the word ‘art’ in the center of the word ‘earth’...one being a part of the other.

I use earth elements as my palette inspiration for color, shape, and texture. I am especially inspired by circles. By using a brush stroke to cover the panels with circles, I begin my creative process in a peaceful space.

Couple of things about my professional past ... I was a public school teacher in the special education field for nearly 20 years. I worked alongside children with specific needs and organized a classroom with the incorporation of art to enhance their learning. Midway through my career I earned a Masters in Creative Arts in Learning. Following the classroom I worked at an internationally recognized educational technology company. In 2008 I left the education field and became a studio assistant to three Pacific Northwest artists, all the while creating and exploring my own art. While observing and learning numerous concepts of the art world from these artists, I ultimately realized the potential I had to become part of the art experience.
